1) Personal Information

We collect personal information you provide directly to us, such as your name, email, account details, will-planning responses, uploaded files, and messages to support. We also collect limited technical information (for example, device/browser details, IP address, and security logs) to operate and protect the service.

We use this information to provide Livewill, secure your account, process subscriptions, improve reliability, and communicate important account or service updates.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

2) Data Storage & Security

Livewill uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest where supported, access controls, and security monitoring.

We use trusted service providers to run core parts of the platform: Clerk for authentication, Convex for application data, and Stripe for payment processing. Data may be hosted in Canada where applicable, or in other jurisdictions used by these providers. When data is processed outside Canada, it may be subject to local lawful access requirements.

Livewill does not store full payment card numbers on Livewill servers. Card details are handled directly by Stripe.

3) Keyholders / Sharing ("Shared with me")

If you share documents or access with a keyholder, trustee, or another authorized person, we process that sharing instruction to deliver the feature you requested. People you share with can access the items and information you make available to them.

If someone shares information with you through a "Shared with me" workflow, you are responsible for how you handle that information. Livewill does not control what another user chooses to share with you.

4) Third-Party Referrals

Livewill may refer you to third-party professionals or services (for example, legal, notary, financial, or insurance providers). If you choose to use a referral, your interactions with that provider are governed by their own terms and privacy policy.

We only share the information needed to make the referral or complete the connection, and only when you request or authorize it.

5) Cookies & Analytics

We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, maintain sessions, and protect account security. We may also use limited analytics tools to understand product performance and improve user experience.

You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings, though disabling some cookies may affect site functionality.

6) Data Retention & Deletion

We retain personal information only for as long as needed to provide Livewill, maintain security and backups, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

You can request deletion of your account and personal information by contacting us using the details below. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on your request. Certain records may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business/security reasons.

7) Company Acquisition or Business Transfer

If Livewill is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. If this happens, we will take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected and is handled in line with this policy (or a policy you are notified of).

8) Your Choices & Opt-Out Preferences

You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the message or by contacting us directly. We may still send service-related messages that are necessary for your account, security, billing, or legal compliance.

You may also request access to or correction of your personal information, withdraw consent where applicable, or request deletion, subject to legal limits.
